The Real Dealio – Occupy Wall Street Alternatives

Today I wrote a post over at The Real Dealio titled “Occupy Wall Street Alternatives.”

What is this all about?

Well, The Real Dealio is started a week ago with my friend Branden as a creative way to tell stories. The awesome twist to these stories is that they have to include mention of a handful of the Nashville daily deals we all receive in our inboxes. From Groupon to LivingSocial, from laser hair treatments to sushi, anything’s fair game. A different person has written the post each day this week, so there’s already a mixture of creative writing styles.

Head on over to The Real Dealio and check out the week’s posts. You won’t be disappointed!

Is Fall Creek Falling?

A few weeks ago, Andy and I headed out on a Sunday road trip to Fall Creek Falls State Park. I had not been there since I was seven, despite it being within driving distance and known for its beautiful landscape this time of year. It was a gorgeous day and perfect for hiking, though it was quite warm for late October in Tennessee. We arrived at the perfect time to find a picnic table and get some energy food in us before we set off on a couple of hikes.

The hike down to the bottom of Fall Creek Falls was labeled “difficult, treacherous.” It wasn’t too bad for us because we came prepared; however, most people we saw along the trail were not. Since the trailhead begins about 100 flat yards from the parking lot, many people probably just rolled out of their plush vehicles, took a look at the waterfall, and thought:  I have to see this waterfall from the bottom. I am awesome. I will embark on this easy walk in flip flops.

They must have left their brains back in their cars.

So here is your thought of the day full of common-sense wisdom that you can pass along to anyone you come in contact with today:

If you are going to an outdoor area where there are waterfalls and lots of other tourists around, at least put on your t-shoes and socks before leaving the car.

Fall Creek Falls is a great place to go if you are a looking for a day trip a couple of hours away. Definitely check it out next fall if you haven’t been recently!
