This and That for the Week

I rode my bike for the first time in a looong time this week. Loved it. Why did I let it sit with flat tires for so long?

I’m loving the fact that Leno is back on and at an earlier time. Welcome back, Headlines and Jaywalking!

The bowl of random questions on my desk at work got some new thought-provoking questions this week. It still needs some more. Lots more. Suggest some for me to add, please!

I am in my third week of studying the book of Daniel with Kay Arthur’s Precepts Upon Precepts study. Wow. Lots and lots to be learned. So far, I highly recommend this study method, and I love the group’s leaders at my church!

I got new tires on my car this week. I am thankful God protected me from no major accident over the past week during the constant monsoon and gave my tires enough traction. Also that I had the money saved for such an event. Yay for emergency funds and car repair funds. :) The tire place I was referred to was awesome. Best customer service. Plus, I even get free tire balance, rotations, and repairs. Two thumbs up.

Oh, and did I mention that Andy got hired on at an appraisal firm here in Brentwood?! And passed two of his expensive appraisal classes?! Yeah!

Now on to a weekend full of celebrations, relaxing, and football. Yay! It’s been a good week here.

Cooking frenzy

I have been cooking a lot recently. I guess it helps that Andy likes food and eats a lot of it. It’s nice to have a human food disposal hanging around often … except when he wants to eat the food off my plate!

When talking with my friend Darcie today about good food we’ve had recently, I remembered I cooked some good stuff but couldn’t remember exactly what. So here you go, Darcie and everyone else. Taste-tested and approved by yours truly:

(Remake of infamous lemonade pie coming soon.)

Unfortunately I can’t take credit for any of these recipes. All I do is take the time to follow the directions (well, sometimes). So see, anyone can be a “good” cook. :)

Change is in the air

Good-bye, summer … Fall is here (for the most part) – YAY! I am loving keeping my windows open at night and feeling the cool air circulate through the place. It’s so nice to walk outside in the morning and be greeted with a little chill instead of a gush of humidity.

This season always seems to bring with it changes – not only in the weather – just like the turn of a new year does. For me, this includes:

Living in a new apartment. I have said good-bye to roommates and now have my own place! It is the first time I’ve ever had my own place and lived alone. So far, I love it! I love controlling the A/C and not having to consult anyone else. I love keeping dishes in the sink and cleaning them when I feel like it. Yes, it is a good change of pace for me. :)

Andy is now an official TN resident! His townhome sold, and he found a place to rent just 10-minutes away from me. I had forgotten how stressful it is moving a ton of stuff and downsizing in the process. After both of our moves, we have a good-sized yard sale pile.

My team at work is welcoming new leaders. We are saying good-bye to my amazing team leader of 4+ years, Brent, as he transitions to another position in the company. I am excited about our new team members, as they both bring lots of experience and expertise in their particular fields. One of them resembles Jerry Seinfeld – so much that he’s been on talk shows and has gotten stopped multiple times for photos and autographs. I am going to have to brush up on my Seinfeld quoting.

The past couple of months have kinda been a whirlwind, so I guess that’s about it for now. See, I haven’t been blogging regularly because I’m bored or something.
