I have no desire to go to Paris.
So how in the world did I end up with two shirts and a keychain of the Eiffel Tower? This realization has baffled me recently.
The first t-shirt is one I bought a few years ago. It’s red with a montage of black and gold Eiffel Tower and travel stuff on it. (Ok, I just did a horrible job describing that and you probably have this horrific picture in your mind, but I promise, it’s not that bad.) I got the second shirt recently. It’s purple with a silk screen of the Eiffel Tower made out of lemons. It’s my French Lemons shirt, of course. A girl in the group went to Paris a few months ago and bought us all Eiffel Tower keychains, so now I am carrying a piece of France with me wherever I go.
I think the Eiffel Tower is pretty cool. It’s a worldwide landmark. It’s a historic place. And though I have no current desire to travel out of my way to visit, I probably will one day.
(Courtney, maybe your love of all things French will eventually inspire me.)

I love Paris in the springtime, I love Paris in the fall… heck, I love Paris all the time. You’re absolutely right, I adore all things French and can’t believe *anyone* wouldn’t want to go to Paris, especially not a world traveler like you, Marianna! There’s an atmosphere there which stirs profound images of their powerful history, inimitable culture, delicious food, and that magical vie en rose of their daily life, all of which makes it feel like home for me. For whatever reason, I can navigate Paris 1000 times better than I can in Nashville, believe it or not.
If you ever do go to Paris though, I’m a FANTASTIC (and affordable) tour guide and translator.

Yeah the French are so awesome (said sarcastically):
1) Google.com
2) Type in french military victories
3) click ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ (not Search)
Losers!

I know a bunch of people go to Paris and end up extremely disappointed. Fortunately for me, I was not one of those people. I went there 7 years ago and loved every minute I was there. The French have a reputation for being rude and snotty, but I didn’t encounter that at all. And I loved the busyness of the city, streets, stores, cafes, etc. But it’s not for everyone. I think you would enjoy it though.
