My summary of the afternoon:
5 deer
4 Southwest plans overhead (I have a fascination with planes.)
3 quick water breaks
2 friends together
1 turkey (or a partridge in a pear tree)
Today was a cold, cloudy day – my favorite for running. Thankfully the rain held off for the most part, so I headed out to a nearby park to run 10 miles. Yes, 10 miles. I still can’t believe it. Thankfully my friend Megan came out to run half of it with me, making today my first time to run with someone. Though we don’t run 9-minute miles or anything ridiculous like that, it was seriously the quickest 5 miles I’ve ever run. Chatting with a friend while running really does make the time and the distance fly by.
Also, deer and turkey sightings just a few feet from the paved trail always make a journey more interesting.
So I did it. Ran those 10 miles. Ran it all. Bring it on, half marathon!
* Giving a SHOUT OUT to all you fellow half marathoners… Grace, Megan, Ben (though he thinks running is the worst thing ever), Chris R., Dayna, MB, Emilee, Jane, Sharon, Coach David, Lindsey, Ana, Tim C., Steve, Phipps … oh no, I know I’m leaving someone out. Keep up the good work… just 2 more weeks! The glorious end is in sight! Thanks to all of you for the encouragement and accountability!
